Karate is not the only combat system that uses specialized martial arts clothing. Many styles of martial arts have their own uniquely designed uniform, each with its only tradition. While there are similarities between many different uniforms, some are completely unique.

The Filipino style of stick fighting, Escrima, requires a very specialized practice uniform. Because of the high-impact nature of this style, these uniforms are heavily padded and often include helmets and padded gloves as well. This particular martial arts clothing is well suited to protecting against heavy, repeated stick blows.

Shaolin Kung Fu also uses its own martial arts clothing. These uniforms, like many others, are often made to be lightweight and loose fitting. However, arm and leg wraps are often used to add compression, allowing for more endurance.
